This was a last minute adventure and followed a somewhat laissez-faire plan: drive the coasts and see what comes up.
I wasn’t fully certain of what to expect as a photo destination, but I was pleasantly surprised, fog and all! Nova Scotia is a total gem on the Atlantic coast. I made Halifax my home base, staying the vibey Moxy, where you check in at the bar and get a welcome drink. I did a little evening street photography, took off for Cabot Trail with inspiring views of cliffs and ocean. Cape Breton Highlands was wild, windy cliff roads, and dense fog that obscured the brilliant views that a clear day would provide. But the fog created a wonderful wilderness highland feel in its own right. There were plenty of postcard-esque villages such as Peggy’s Cove and Lunenburg with their colorful houses and lobster boats. Peggy’s Cove is a tourist magnet if you enjoy such excitement, but most of the other tiny hamlets were quiet and charming. With its stunning scenery and friendly folks, Nova Scotia was a picturesque getaway that’ll stick with me for some time..

Halifax

Crazy style at my hotel, The Moxy Halifax—where minimalist Euro-design meets a lively, if not peculiar, atmosphere in city’s bustling downtown.
The following photos are all in Halifax, and hopefully provide a sense of the active and vibrant ambiance in town.
